During the G20 meetings, events in Toronto were seen around the world. While the police accuse anarchists of conspiracy to create chaos, the true conspiracy involved the government and the police. A public inquiry is necessary to ensure that this use of force does not happen again.
In Toronto we love our police. These fine people put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect our public; most do it with integrity and honour. However, we suspect that the people in riot gear were not our police; instead they were imported to impose martial law during the G20 meetings. They were not there to protect the people but to corral them, innocent or not.
The events were staged for public consumption; plans for these activities occurred well in advance. The film studio was converted into a makeshift jail to hold people from anticipated mass arrests; the riot police had weapons and shields and tear gas and pepper spray, all ready to be used on citizens. As the warriors said in the movie Braveheart, ‘we didn’t get dressed up for nothing’.
On Saturday, men in masks identified as Black Bloc were allowed to prepare themselves in public view, then to create chaos as they rampaged through our city. I suspect that many of our police were chomping at the bit to step in; however they were ordered to stand back and not break ranks. Out of 12,000 uniformed officers, a unit of 100 could have easily stopped the carnage but they did not. Why?
I speculate that the photo opportunities created by hooligans were intended to create fear and anger, thus encouraging Torontonians to accept martial law on Sunday. Nice strategy if it works but we are not that stupid. The public will not allow this to continue; the riot gear must become as foreign as the officers who wore the suits. Toronto will not allow these tactics to become commonplace.
The window-smashing and car-burning also distracted from the key points that people were protesting in the first place. Personal freedoms were diminished and Toronto became a city under military rule. Again, we will not accept this. Yes we believe in law and order but we will not be fooled.
The people demand a public inquiry, not to whine about bumps and bruises but to insist on transparency. This is not about blaming Toronto police who acted with great discipline over the weekend; it is about refusing to be forced into complacency. We want to know who gave the orders, who were the hooligans and who wore the riot gear. It is our right to know.

Direct Energy = Vicious Bully
Corporations tend to put a lot of money into goodwill, advertising their services and creating a positive image in the eyes of the public. All this goes for naught when the same company's policies are written to screw their customers.
In 1998, while living in a house in Richmond Hill, I signed an agreement with Direct Energy to supply my natural gas. Every few years they would contact me for renewal of this agreement; I was always offered to opt out for double or triple gas price. Of course I renewed; it didn't really matter to me who supplied gas to my house. Finally, last September I sold my house and moved into an apartment in downtown Toronto.
This week I was served with a collection notice for $727.63. When I contacted the collection agency I was told that they represented Direct Energy and were charging me a fee for breaking my gas contract. Apparently there are 4.5 years left on my current 'renewal'; the fact that I have been a customer for 12 years is irrelevant.
The situation was resolved when I faxed in a copy of my current lease proving that I was no longer paying for gas services. Of course, the fax was at my cost (direct energy, you owe me $6.30). If I did not send in this fax, the bullying would continue; I was warned by the collection agency that they would keep calling until this was resolved.
So the bottom line, Direct Energy uses contract lawyers and collection agencies to setup their customers for intimidation and bullying. So much for goodwill.

Lightworkers
This article was originally published in May 2004; it is now an excerpt from Soulwork 101.
Lightworkers
There is a new breed of human that is populating our species. We have been around for centuries, and again we are called. We are the same as everyone, and yet we are different. We have always recognized our uniqueness, and yet it is now that the lightworkers awaken.
It is not religious belief that defines light work; in fact there are many who create darkness in the name of their religion. Lightworkers do not all pray to the same god; in fact some pray to many gods while others pray to none. Light work involves faith beyond religion.
On the surface, light work is indicative of various human emotions and behaviours. Compassion, generosity, kindness, and nurturing are all ultimately the result of love. The lightworker helps rather than hinders, heals instead of harms. In fact, many lightworkers are already healers and many are women
The way of the lightworker is not easy, and yet it is through lightworkers that humanity realizes it’s greatest hope. The lightworker has two goals: to bring light where there is dark and to continually improve one’s self. As self becomes stronger and more balanced, the ability to carry the light is strengthened.
There are many things that are not defined for lightworkers. For example, though I carry certain moral and ethical beliefs, there are others whose beliefs are just as valid. There are also those who allow their moral beliefs to bring darkness into the world. Therefore, moral belief alone cannot be the measurement of lightwork.
The world is changing, and there is a lot going on. In every corner of the globe there are lightworkers holding their balance and helping others move in a positive direction. Lightworkers bring love wherever they go, and their resonance has influence beyond their comprehension. Stand forth and carry the light! The world can be changed, and it begins with you.

Voices of Change
The sound is haunting; voices in the night claiming the right to exist. In the darkness of Tehran a female voice cries 'Allah Akbar' 'God is Great'. From the dark distance comes the answer; many voices echo their reply. We are witnessing a shift in human consciousness; the call for freedom in Iran continues each night.
The You Tube video released this past weekend shows only darkness and occasional light. From the beginning voices call from a distance; the Islamic recognition of god is also a statement of freedom. Soon a voice near the camera cries loudly into the night and many voices answer. In the darkness of Tehran, those who are not speaking are listening. The sounds of change must be heard.
Change is coming to Iran and the women are leading. Peaceful shift is desired; resolute citizens have already taken many blows. Though some have died at the hands of the basij, the protesters still walk the streets. Though some have been beaten for raising their voices, the brave women of Tehran still climb to the rooftops at night. In defiance of the ruling powers, the women of Tehran will not be silenced.

The Beginning
Once upon a time there was a man who decided to write a book. He started a column entitled 'Weekly Inspirations' and he set intention to find inspiration each week and write about it. For the next few years he wrote a lot, occasionally missing a week (or two). Like everyone else, there were times when he was distracted or uninspired.
Much of the writing accumulated over the years has been edited and released as 'Soulwork 101'. Covering a variety of concepts, 'Soulwork 101' expresses my questions and discoveries in my quest for spiritual growth. During this period I became a reiki master, I began seeing auras, I studied a variety of holistic healing practices and read books such as 'The Celestine Prophecy' and 'Conversations with God' along with authors such as Deepak Chopra and Barbara Brennan.
Today I continue my stream of creativity delivered in this new format. The lightworkers are called and this is my calling. It is time to revibrate; to shift ourselves and the world. This time everyone comes along. As always, my work begins within. So does yours.
See you soon!
